Star Bank recently donated $5,000 to the Verndale Legacy Foundation to support the construction of a new accessible playground at the Verndale School.
Founded by local parents who recognized the need for a playground that is welcoming and accessible to all children, the Verndale Legacy Foundation is a community-led nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing opportunities for local students and families. The new playground will replace the school's aging playground and is expected to be installed this summer, with hopes of welcoming children by the start of the school year this fall.
As the foundation's first major project, the playground has been funded through community support, donations, and fundraising efforts, including a raffle taking place through Verndale Days. Raffle tickets are available at the Star Bank Verndale location, with only 1,000 tickets being sold and a top prize of $500 cash.
"We believe strong communities are built when local organizations, businesses, and families come together to invest in the future," said Raye Ludovissie, VP, Star Bank Verndale. "This playground will provide a safe and welcoming place for children and families to gather, play, and connect. We're proud to support a project that reflects our commitment to being The Bank That Cares™."
Raye Ludovissie and Jayde Wachlin presented the donation on behalf of Star Bank to Jordan Hinkle and Matt Uselman who accepted the contribution on behalf of the Verndale Legacy Foundation.
Once the playground project is complete, the Verndale Legacy Foundation plans to expand its impact through scholarships and other initiatives that benefit the school and community.
Star Bank is honored to support projects that strengthen the communities we serve and create opportunities for future generations.
